• This survey recorded 1BA523, a historical artifact and surface feature cluster on the bluff above the Tensaw River.
• Historians reported that the Taensa tribe resided at this location, and many interpreted the history of the area as a group of Oumas who were resettled from the area around New Orleans.
• Reported using a combination of shovel testing (n=45) and surface inspection with the delineated wetlands not surveyed.
• Six shovel tests were reported as containing historical Native American artifacts, including Chicot Red Filmed and a turquoise glass trade bead (Stowe and Stowe 2000:15-16).
• Some portion of this site was included in a 2009 survey by Barry A. Vittor and Associates, but there was no update to the site form and the report is not available.
