• Studied a control block unit worth of faunal remains from 1BA196 that was fine screened.
• Curren (1976:177): “The subsistence of the Indians living on D’Olive Creek still remained virtually unaffected by the newcomers from across the sea. The site therefore provides a rare opportunity to examine the faunal procurement system of a native [sic] American group prior to any major alterations from invading Europeans.”
• Summarizes that this is a seasonal pattern of cycling between the interior and the coast, equivalent to that of the Choctaw in the Mississippi interior, however this is a direct line historical approach between pre-European and post-European patterning, rather than being based on archaeological evidence. - Subject
