• Depicts North America from the Atlantic to just beyond the Mississippi River and the Gulf of Mexico in a series of sheets.
• The main map depicts British colonies along the Atlantic coast and contrasts them with French and Spanish claims to the west and south.
• The map is considered a political statement emphasizing British claims and was intended for use by British officials and merchants to expand the empire.
• The Chahta (Choctaw), “Naniaba” and some towns and nations to the north are shown, but definitely minimized on the main map.
• Image 11 (of 22) depicts the Gulf Coast and provides more detail. A single location is labeled “Chaactaws,” but it is unclear if the cartographer understood the relationship of town and nations on the lower Coastal Plain. The “Naniaba,” “Mobiliens,” “Tansas,” “Tuvachas,” and “Apalachees” are all depicted on the west side of the Mobile River.
